Sladen Consulting is a people development business with a leading capability for applying experiential learning to individual, team and organisation development.We bring inspiration and magic, enthusiasm and imagination to the process of developing people and organisations.All learning programmes should start with a tangible purpose, a well-defined change in a real dimension. We work with groups, large and small, to change attitudes and behaviours and improve business performance. How we work We tailor our approach to each assignment we undertake as no two clients are the same. However, there are some common features to the way we work:

Initial meetings – we are always pleased to meet and talk about a potential project, or simply discuss issues or problems. The more we understand about your situation the clearer any solution will be.

Written proposal – for every possible project we produce a written document summarising what we learnt and how we believe we can help. This ensures we start work with shared objectives and agreed outcomes.

Fees - Before starting work we ensure clear costs have been agreed. We do not have a set fee for our work or a fixed method of charging. We expect to be able to discuss what you need to achieve, by when and the budget you have available. We consider such factors as the complexity, value and duration of the work involved. We are also flexible in the way in which we charge clients and are happy to discuss alternative charging methods that are appropriate for you.

Assignment – Our style of work is determined by the needs of each project. We are happy to work on-site at your offices or off-site at ours. We have a residential centre, set in the heart of the Peak District which is ideal for getting small groups away from the office. We conclude our work with a closing meeting to confirm all the original objectives have been met.

Our approach to working with our clients is to build a clear understanding of their needs and issues and to design appropriate interventions and programmes in partnership. We believe in the value of working with teams on real-life business issues, and of building a long-term responsive and responsible relationships. We use both indoor and outdoor environments for leadership and teambuilding programmes to enhance the vividness of the learning and to develop individuals' awareness of their own internal and external environments.

We use a variety of techniques that include coaching, facilitation, challenge, experiential learning and bespoke workshops. In addition we draw upon a range of psychometric questionnaires, 360-degree feedback analysis, and behavioural observation to provide data on team and organisational culture and to open new opportunities for learning for individuals

What we do

We specialise in delivering coaching programmes to assist people achieve more of what they want in their lives both professionally and personally. We create personal development programmes for people who want to improve performance and achieve better results for themselves, their organisations or staff.

Coaching helps people to use their minds more effectively so they are able to make better decisions, create more opportunity and achieve more personal success.


Executive Coaching

A results-orientated form of personally tailored learning for the busy executive. The latest research shows that large and small companies are turning to Executive Coaching as it is now considered the most effective method of learning and the most time-efficient way of instilling skills into the workforce.
We offer four types of Executive Coaching.

Coaching for skills

Coaching for skills is focused on the Executive's current task, e.g. making a presentation to the board or negotiating a particular deal. The coach helps the Executive in learning and developing the specific skills, attitudes and behaviours that will directly improve work performance for this task.

Coaching for performance

Performance coaching specifically involves learning that improves the Executive's future effectiveness in a current job, with focus on establishing and developing executive competencies in a current position. The goals here may not be as clear-cut as in coaching for skills and more time may be needed to identify clear goals.


Coaching for development

Focusing on the Executive's future career or a new leadership role is the function of development coaching. It entails assessing and clarifying expectations for future growth and developing the requisite competencies.

Still using a results-orientated approach this category allows the Executive to nominate any personal and/or organisational related topic.

 

Life Coaching

Individuals

In life coaching the agenda that people want to work with may be slightly more personal.

Enhancing relationships, better health, career transition or finding more satisfaction and work/life balance are some examples.

Sometimes people can find themselves overwhelmed with too much responsibility, uncertainty and lack of direction or maybe they just aren't doing what they really want.

The role of a trained coach is to encourage the client to make decisions, plan and take action.

The coach acts as a sounding board, keeps the client on track and is a source of feedback and ideas. It is a working partnership, a collaboration that puts the client back in charge of what they want and their own desired goals.
Coaching is for people who would like to create more options, have more confidence, make better decisions, embark on a new career or get back in control.

 

How we work

The coach and client work together on a 1 to 1 basis over a set period of time towards specific and measurable outcomes. The coaching sessions are largely conversational and are absolutely confidential. During the meetings the client and coach will explore smarter ways of working, uncover limiting boundaries and work towards enhancing personal impact and performance.

The learning experienced by the client is ongoing throughout the coaching programme.

Coaching takes place face to face at your offices, home, over the telephone or at a mutually convenient location over a period of time at agreed intervals.
